about

The first album of a series involving nothing but guitars, not limited to the number of layers or how the sounds are processed.
All music recorded between February and July 2019.

“Everyone Got Older and Moved On” - a confused reflection on how people close to me have changed, asking whether my negative view of these changes comes from me having changed negatively. (8 guitars)

“Fidgeting with Large Gestures” - a question of whether I make [some of my] art to hide from other important aspects of life - social, fiscal, etc. (44)

“Cult Dream Etude” - an arpeggio etude that serves as a soundtrack to an oddly vivid and uncomfortable cult dream I once had. (3)

“4.11” - a thorough representation of the fleeting as well as reflective thoughts had in the process of quitting cigarettes, recorded 8 days deep into the quitting process. (24)

“Fine with Being Wrong” - a song about accepting that I am wrong about things I currently know and may be wrong about many of the things I will learn. (8)

“Andras” - a memorial of D.C. musician Andras Fekete who died suddenly in December 2018. Along with other experimental art projects, he directed a 100-guitar ensemble which I was lucky to take part in and through which I met and worked with several musicians I admire and respect. The song features techniques he had the guitarists employ (playing with a paint brush, chord progressions tracked in different keys) and also asks the questions, “am I ‘allowed’ to memorialize someone from my community who I didn’t know all too well personally? Would his family, friends, and colleagues be happy to find another memorial of him, or would they ask ‘who the hell is this guy?’” (90)

Sheet music for "Cult Dream Etude" is included with purchase of the EP.
